Matthew McConaughey: an immediate decision

The actor did not hesitate to be part of Serenity

If Matthew McConaughey was sure about something when he finished reading the script for Serenity was that he was to participate in the project by director Steven Knight at all costs.

McConaughey remembers that feeling of excitement and adrenaline: "I remember writing to Steven: "Please, do not change it. Please, do not change a word." The actor was attracted by the different nuances of the story.

On the surface he is a man who is obsessed with catching a fish, but below are the issues of what is reality and what is not. "I have to navigate on my own will, in my own way until the end of the story. I am the detective of my own life and I have to discover what is real," he said.

Director Steven Knight was always convinced that McConaughey was right for the role: "I think Matthew is the best. Dill (his character) needs to be slightly intensified, bigger than life, he has to be a kind of character who does not give away easily, someone who is locked in himself, and I thought it was Matthew."

Serenity. A true proposal?

Captain Baker Dill (McConaughey)’s mysterious life is altered when his ex-wife Karen (Anne Hathaway) reappears obsessed with killing her current partner and proposes him to join the plan. But will this be true?
