The presentation of The Florida Project took place at the Cannes Film Festival. Consulted by the realism that he prints in his films, director Sean Baker sought to make a difference: "I think all my films are like that. But the last two began to move away a little from that. It is a "hyper reality" or augmented reality. My other films are completely based on realism," he said.
But what is a "hyper reality" or augmented reality?
The director provides more details of his idea: "My intention is for the public to get lost while watching it, laughing and living the experiences with the characters. But I also want, in a not so obvious way, that the viewer takes the inspiration to make questions," he added.
It is for this reason that Sean Baker sought to build two endearing characters: "I want the audience to want and accept these two girls. And when they get home, during dinner, wonder why there are homeless families who live with children in low-rise motels budget. "Why is this happening? What can I do to change that situation? That is my ultimate goal," he concluded.
The Florida Project: the plot
Prince's childhood takes place in a motel with his mother, Bobby (the manager of place) and a fun group of friends. She does not suspect being surrounded by an adult world full of problems. A film that captivates the sweetness of its story.
