Mahershala Ali wins a new award for Green Book

Peter Farrelly's film prevails in this awards season

Green Book keeps imposing itself in the current and hyper competitive awards season.

After the great success at the Golden Globes and the five nominations for the next Oscars, the film about an interracial friendship shone this time at the prestigious Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) thanks to Mahershala Ali, who won the category for best supporting actor. In one of the best performances in his career, the actor plays refined jazz pianist Don Shirley, while touring the racist south of the USA.

 The most applauded duo

Ali's performance goes with another great one: versatile Viggo Mortensen. Inspired by a true story, the actor of the Lord of the Rings plays the musician's driver, with whom he creates an unexpected friendship.

The name of Peter Farrelly's film comes from The Green Book, a guide used by African Americans to travel by car to avoid harassment, arrest or violence of the time.

Never leaving comedy, Farrelly offers an endearing portrait full of the humanity of two different men who must face an unfair world.
