Hotel Artemis and Los Angeles city

The land of dreams becomes a nightmare

The director and the producers of Hotel Artemis always had something clear: the film should have Los Angeles as an unmissable scenario.

It is known as the "city of dreams" for its eternal wanderings of artists seeking their place in Hollywood. However, in Hotel Artemis, the magic of its beaches and parks becomes a nightmare.

Criminals lead

Set in 2028, the film portrays the second largest city in the USA drowned in a sea of violence. And where criminals take the lead. Therefore, commanded by Jodie Foster’s character, Hotel Artemis is actually an elite hospital camouflaged for criminals in the area for their urgencies.

"Someone once called it the city of doors", says director Drew Pearce, "because its buildings do not reveal exactly what's inside, and that's reflected in Hotel Artemis".

"I grew up here", adds Jodie Foster, "and I love that the film has a nostalgic love for the city".

"Los Angeles is very much another character in this story",  explains producer Marc Platt. An ungovernable but at the same time magnetic version of the city that becomes the right place for a must-see drama.
