The nominees for the 2023 Oscars were announced this Tuesday. Actors Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams unveiled the nominations in the 23 categories for the 95th edition of the awards.
One of the big revelations this year was the comeback of two actors: Ke Huy Quan and Brendan Fraser. Both had a great start to their Hollywood careers but had been away for a long time. As of 2022, they returned with their respective projects and now the two actors received their well-deserved nomination at the Academy.
Another surprise was Everything Everywhere All at Once, which scored eleven nominations. The film tells the story of a Chinese immigrant, who must save humanity by traveling to other universes, but this leads to an even greater challenge when she finds herself lost in the infinite worlds of the multiverse. The film's incredible cast stands out in the different categories: Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), and Best Supporting Actress (Stephanie Hsu and Jamie Lee Curtis).
On the other hand, another surprise was Triangle of Sadness which is nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Director. The film follows models Carl and Yaya, who navigate the fashion world while exploring the limits of their relationship. The couple is invited to a luxury cruise with a particular group of people. At first, everything seems ideal and Instagrammable, but a storm approaches and the passengers will find themselves in danger.
The awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on March 12.
