Directors recommend movies

Are you going to miss them?

Nowadays there are endless movie options for everyone. But what is better than watching the recommendations of the most successful directors?

Spanish film director, screenwriter, and producer Pedro Almodóvar recommends The Florida Project, directed by Sean Baker and starring Willem Dafoe. “Baker uses his own heart and a special ability for ellipsis to tell the story of a group of boys who live in a poverty-stricken building near Disney World (…) no other film is likely to show a reality as palpable as this. Sean Baker is my big bet for the future”. Not to miss it!

From the other side of the world, South Korean director Bong Joon Ho recommends Hereditary for horror lovers, directed by Ari Aster and starring Toni Colette. “The film is an impeccable work where occult elements are cleverly woven together (…) the true terror comes from the family itself. One of the most terrifying scenes is the family dinner, which is dimly lit, which has no occult elements and relies solely on the Toni Colette’s explosive performance”. And he closes "The film is ostensibly about the hell that a family suffers as generation after generation is swallowed by a demon, but it’s actually saying that family itself (or ties defined by blood) is hell.” A much deeper look at the horror we know.

Lastly, American director, actor, screenwriter, and editor Alex Ross Perry recommends Under the Silver Lake, directed and written by David Robert Mitchell. “It was undoubtedly the best film of 2019. It is the most unique attempt at reconsidering the rules of storytelling, both written and visual (…) it is a masterpiece that perhaps many people do not know exists and that is why we must find the audience it deserves”.

How much longer are you going to wait to watch them?
