Outstanding Selma Blair

She talked about her life with multiple sclerosis

Few imagined the news that shocked the Hollywood industry when Selma Blair shared her diagnosis with the world in 2018. The American actress is one of two and a half million people around the world who live with multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system, for which there is no known cause and for which there is no cure.

Despite the shocking news for her life, she remains strong and positive. "I am doing very well. I am very happy to be able to make visible what it means to live with this disease (…) When I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis I cried. I had tears. They weren’t tears of panic, they were tears of knowing I now had to give in to a body that had loss of control, and there was some relief in that", she said in an interview for Vanity Fair. She even surprised everyone when, some time after the announcement, she made her first public appearance in the red carpet at the 2019 Oscars wearing a beautiful dress while gracefully and proudly carrying a cane.

Even though she admits the illness poses several obstacles, she recognizes it has also helped her focus and reconnect with the most important things in her life: her family and friends.

Always active

Elle Woods’s well-known enemy in Legally Blonde has shown that as long as her health allows her, she will continue to work and surprise us with new projects, without losing her characteristic joy and will power.

We’ll see her playing Carol Young, Tessa's mother (Josephine Langford) in the second installment of the most anticipated 2020 saga, After we collided.

We wish her the best and strength in her fight!
