Directed and written by Sean Durkin, The Nest is set in the 1980s and it tells the story of the Ohara family. Rory (Jude Law), the father, is a businessman who decides to move with his entire family to England to achieve professional and economic growth, even though they already had a comfortable life.
His wife Allison (Carrie Coon), has a bad feeling about this decision but she agrees to, driven by her mother. As time goes by, the viewer will notice that not everything is as good as it seems as not only the business is not as profitable as expected, but also the family fails to adapt to their new life.
The more effort Rory makes to demonstrate his abilities to others -especially to his mother- the more dangerous he becomes for his own family. This leads Allison to gradually taking power in a situation created by her husband that gets out of control.
