The worldwide success of the first installment of The Boy (2016) immediately raised the possibility of a second part. Interestingly, the American director William Brent Bell had already thought about it while shooting the first installment.
As he told the press, "the great thing was that you could go in many different directions", and he added: "the doll took on a life of its own in the world of social networks... you could tell it was connected to people". This was essential to continue the story.
"I had an idea of how the sequel looked like, which is more or less what it is now," the director said, and that's why they brought in screenwriter Stacey Menear, who was in charge of the character’s development.
Brahms: The Boy II. A family unaware of the past
After a home invasion in London, Liza's family (Katie Holmes) decides to move to a small house located within the grounds of the former Heelshire mansion to find some peace of mind.
Unaware of the dark history of the place, the young son of the family, Jude (Christopher Convery), will meet Brahms, the mysterious porcelain doll.
But once the family discovers the past, will they be able to escape?
