Finding the perfect cast for a story based on true events is no simple task. That is why the producer of Hustlers, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, was looking for an inclusive cast that "lends itself automatically to the proposal and that was also fun."

The actresses, like their counterparts in real life, connected instantly and understood, without judging their characters. "They inhabited them fully," Goldsmith-Thomas continues. “They understood who these women were and what it meant for them to be an exotic dancer. Hustlers is a celebration of sisterhood, and what a united family of women has to do to have a chance to fight.”
Director Lorene Scafaria revealed that, through such sisterhood, she felt a relationship with the characters. "I identify with everything that happens, including the fight against loneliness and the search for independence," she says. "They are mothers, friends, sisters and daughters who forge these incredible ties that transcend their differences."
