Guillermo del Toro's favorite book trilogy

Mexican filmmaker takes Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark to the big screen

Guillermo del Toro fulfills a dream by taking to theaters the adaptation of the series of books that he liked the most in his adolescence.

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is the film directed by André Øvredal and produced by Del Toro, which adapts the trilogy of horror stories by the beloved Alvin Schwartz. Those chilling stories that captured the attention of children and adolescents in the early nineties and that millions nowadays have in their memory.

The stories he read as a teenager

In promoting his work, Del Toro assures that the film contemplates the "most famous stories" of the literary success, such as the scarecrow that comes to life or the disgusting red spot that appears on someone's face, and adds that "logically those who have read the books will see much more on the film than those who have not, but in the end they will all end up captivated."

Del Toro takes the opportunity to declare his love for the trilogy of books. "I was in my early teens when I found an irresistible volume name: Scary stories to tell in the dark.” And he ends: "the illustrations captured me first, and then the story fascinated me completely".
