Julia Roberts: Everything has a beginning

A review of the career of a Hollywood actress

The beginning of the career of any actor or actress is always a mystery. Each casting, each choice of a role can mean the jump to stardom or the sum of failures that can definitely take you out of the industry.

Since 1987 Julia Roberts participated in several projects that did not have much impact, but everything changed when she starred with Richard Gere, Pretty Woman (1990). The film was a worldwide sensation, placing Roberts on top of success.

But getting there involves staying there, and from that point onwards she consolidated as a box office figure and synonymous with quality cinema. Notting Hill (1999) was, certainly, one of her most outstanding films when she played a super famous actress who meets a clueless book owner (Hugh Grant).

She became the best paid actress in 2000, when she starred in the film Erin Brockovich with which she was awarded best actress at the Oscars.

Ben Is Back. Julia Roberts’ new film

Roberts returns to the big screen with Ben Is Back, where the return of Ben Burns (Lucas Hedges) to his home on Christmas Eve moves his whole family. His mother, Holly Burns (Roberts) welcomes him, but maybe his son is still in danger.
