Denise Gough: "My character was a very important transgender figure”

The actress talks about her character in the movie starring Keira Knightley

Denise Gough, a member of Colette's cast, spoke directly from the film set to share her feelings during the shooting of the film.

On her character Missy, Gough states: "She is a very important transgender figure. Although at that time there was no such word. What Missy did was wear men's clothes, which was illegal. But she belonged to the nobility, so she could do it. She was openly lesbian," she revealed.

Missy and Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette will have an affair and it is known that erotic high voltage scenes are always difficult to perform, that is why Gough highlights Keira Knightley’s experience to carry out this type of situation: "She is fantastic, I must say. This kind of thing, like having to pretend to have sex with someone is kind of weird. But Keira always speaks loudly. I love that. She speaks to you in the scenes. She knows what she does, because she has been doing it for a long time."

In France 1900, the marriage of Willy (Dominic West) and Colette (Knightley) was almost in ruins. The husband proposes to his wife that she become the ghostwriter of his next book. When an unexpected success arrives, Colette will be able to change her own destiny.
