Tami Oldham Ashcraft: “it was exciting and surreal, but gratifying”

The meeting between the director and the true protagonist of Adrift

Neither Tami nor Richard could imagine that a romantic and adventurous trip through the ocean could radically change their lives. A hurricane unexpectedly changes their course and their sailboat is left completely destroyed. With Richard wounded, she will be the one who will carry the boat to return to the mainland. This is the real story on which Adrift is based, the new film by director Baltasar Kormákur.

“Making a film on the experience that changed my life was exciting and surreal but gratifying” said Tami Oldham Ashcraft, the real protagonist of the events, when she visited the film set.

It was clearly a very sensitive moment for her since she remembered everything that had happened in 1983. The production team was very attentive to that: "It required a delicate emotional balance on many levels, we were not making a documentary, we were making a movie, but we are all human beings. We tried to achieve the right balance and everyone, both the cast and the team, felt that it deserved the best of our efforts," recalls director Baltasar Kormákur.

Adrift stars Shailene Woodley (who plays Ashcraft) and Sam Claflin and its premiere is already generating great expectation among the specialized press and the audience.

Don’t miss an incredible adventure!
