Beau is Afraid: a comic nightmare

We tell you everything about Ari Aster's new film

Starring Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix (C'mon C'mon; Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot), and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ari Aster, this year we’ll have the chance to enjoy this wickedly entertaining new odyssey. The film follows a man named Beau, who must undertake a great adventure to visit his mother. Along the way, as he tries to reach his destination, he will encounter more than one character that will lead him to confront his worst fears and the traumas that have scarred him for life.

This comic nightmare, which reveals the main character’s different traumas, is an expansion of a short film called Beau from 2011. It also consists of a theatrical adaptation of a script titled Beau is Afraid, both written and directed by Ari Aster. Taking into account these different formats, it was understood that the story had a real potential to become a feature film.

The film features an outstanding cast, including Joaquin Phoenix, Michael Gandolfini (he played young Tony Soprano in The Many Saints of Newark), Zoe Lister-Jones, Parker Posey, Amy Ryan (Beautiful Boy), and Nathan Lane. The latter actor describes the film as an epic fable of guilt and codependency and says it is the Jewish Everything Everywhere All at Once. Are you ready to enjoy it?

Beau is Afraid will be in theaters in Latin America this year.

Stay tuned!
