New release: Orphan: First Kill

Esther’s prequel hits the big screen

The day has come! The story of the genre's most feared villain is in theaters in Latin America. Esther’s terrifying saga continues in this thrilling prequel to the blockbuster horror film Orphan. After escaping from a psychiatric clinic in Estonia, she travels to the United States and poses as the missing daughter of a wealthy family. However, an unexpected twist forces the mother to protect her family from the killer "girl."

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a story by Alex Mace, the original film Orphan was released in 2009 and was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The film was a huge box office success and became a cult classic within the horror genre. It tells the story of an orphan who is adopted by a couple desperate to expand their family after going through a painful period. But Esther did not make things easy for her new parents. The ending caused quite a stir in the movie theater: Esther suffered from hypopituitarism, a disorder that prevented her from growing up and made her look like a child when, in reality, she was a killer in her thirties.

This new installment comes with great innovations such as the fact that the actress who played the main character in the first film returns for the same role. Isabelle Fuhrman, who is now twenty-five years old but still has an angel face, is here to play once again the terrifying young woman. To achieve the visual effect, the production of Orphan: First Kill resorted to prosthetics, makeup, and camera and lighting effects to create an illusion of youth. Two girls also joined the project as body doubles.

This great cast including Julia Stiles (Hustlers), Rossif Sutherland, and Hiro Kanagawa will have you jumping out of your seat.
