World Alzheimer's Day

A special film that explores the seriousness of this disease

September 21 marks World Alzheimer's Day, a date chosen by the World Health Organization to raise awareness about this disease which is a form of dementia that mainly affects older people. This disease is reflected in the inability to carry out daily activities.

Alzheimer's not only affects patients but also their direct caregivers and close relatives. Even though there is still no cure, there are some studies that show which activities can help delay the deterioration caused by it.

On this special date, we recommend Still Alice. The film tells the story of Alice Howland, a happily married woman with three grown children, who is a renowned linguistics professor and begins to forget words. A devastating diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer's disease tests her relationship with her family. A film that delves into the constant struggle to stay connected to the person she once was. A heartbreaking, moving and uplifting tale that received several nominations during awards season and whose actress, Julianne Moore (A Single Man; Suburbicon; After the Wedding), won the Golden Globe and Oscar for her superb performance.
