Minari’s soundtrack

It was released today in theaters in some Latin American countries!

Composer Emile Mosseri -who is nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Original Score- told in an interview what were the keys to achieve that the musical composition of the film and the song Rain Song worked perfectly to tell the story.

On the one hand, he says that he was able to achieve an evocative soundtrack because he started working very early on the project. This is because director Lee Isaac Chung called him at the script writing stage and this allowed him to explore the purity of the project's theme while he was making the first versions of the scores.

He also had the opportunity to record some songs with actress Yeri Han, who plays Monica, the family’s mother, but she also sings in some songs such as Wind Song and Rain Song. In this case, the lyrics of the songs were translated into Korean by lyricist Stefanie Hong.

What were some of the songs that inspired him? For example, Caetano Veloso and Gal Costa's song Nenhuma Dor (no pain would be its English translation), You belong to heaven by Luke Temple, No Other Love by Joe Stafford, and Haenim (The Sun) by Korean Kim Jung Mi.

"I'm very grateful to have had some previous references to be able to absorb that vibe (...) plus I feel fortunate that Isaac guided and directed me. This is one of the blessings of writing music and sharing it with the director to make adjustments. You find some real treasures!".

This beautiful film will be released today in Mexican and Brazilian theaters and it is scheduled for release on May 13 in Colombia, so you can't miss it! You can watch the trailer here.
