Director Sean Durkin impressed once again the audience at Sundace with his second feature

Portraying a couple whose relationship is falling through the cracks after moving from England to New York, talented Jude Law and Carrie Coon star in Sean Durkin’s return to the big screen after his first feature Martha Marcy May Marlene.

Durkin's shocking debut at Sundace in 2011 raised concerns about whether his new release could live up to expectations. And indeed it is what happened. The second film by this ascending filmmaker was very well received at the festival and it got a series of interesting reviews.

An elegant, mysterious drama

Although it may seem inspired by a Henry James’ novel, this story about an Anglo-American family fraying at the edges after a transatlantic move is a hyper-nuanced study of marriage mind games, cultural misunderstanding and stifling gender expectations”, published Hollywood Reporter.

After classifying the film as elegantly built, the magazine also added that it “casts an ineffable spell” that “lingers long after the final credits”.
