But how was the task of finding the perpetrators? The Report, directed by Scott Z. Burns and produced by Steven Soderbergh, focuses on the investigation carried out by Senate member Daniel Jones (Adam Driver) to determine if the search complied with all constitutional guarantees.

As you can see in the images of the film's launch trailer, it is Senator Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening) who decides Jones carry out the investigation to examine if the rights were safeguarded during the interrogation processes.
The Senate member will discover certain illegal actions carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that can put at risk any investigation process and trial against the authors of the attack.
