My Spy: finding the right protagonist

Director Peter Segal and the finding of Chloe Coleman

The possibility of working with child actors constitutes a challenge for a director. But that is not the case of Peter Segal- with a solid experience in the entertainment world- who is always excited by the idea.

The director points out that child actors offer a lot of versatility, because "they can go in any direction and it's something that always goes very well because they tend to be very natural," he recently told the media outlets.

But finding the child protagonist of his upcoming film My Spy did not end up being an easy task. In this regard Segal recalls: "we worked with a casting director who saw more than 700 girls of the character's age".

The idea was to find the closest point between the story they wanted to tell and the actress. That was when little Chloe Coleman shined her brightest because according to the director: "we literally traveled the whole world and she was the only one", he concluded.

My Spy. A CIA agent in distress

Agent JJ (Dave Bautista) is not going through his best time at work. His last missions were a complete failure but although he has the last chance to redeem himself, a 9-year-old girl (Coleman) uncovers him and forces him to make an agreement the spy cannot decline.
