The imagination, talent and craft of a writer can change the lives of a whole generation of readers. This is what happened with the work of the American Alvin Schwartz, because his pen came up with a series of terrifying books that will now be on the big screen.

 

But who was Alvin Schwartz and what are his best works?

With almost 40 years of uninterrupted production, Schwartz was first a journalist and then a writer specialized in productions for young readers.

In his more than fifty published books, he wrote about children's topics where word games, riddles, jokes and superstitions fascinated the audience.

But, the work that took more relevance was the series of books entitled: Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark with which he certainly remained in the American imagination forever.

 

Guillermo del Toro, a fan about to make his dream come true

Among the fans of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark was young Guillermo del Toro, who had a clear idea: to bring his admiration for books to the movies.

That's why he got the rights and started working on the story with screenwriters Dan and Kevin Hageman and he called a prominent figure in the genre to direct the film: André Øvredal.

Now we just have to wait for the release of this horror film to enjoy everything everyone imagined when reading the pages of the book.
