Peter Farrelly, in search of new challenges

The director moves from humor to drama in Green Book

Determined to venture into the dramatic work, Peter Farrelly directed Green Book, a film inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class and the social limitations of the early sixties.

And for that he had two really epic protagonists, since Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali will play Tony Lip and Dr. Don Shirley. Both forged a close friendship along a tour throughout the southern United States that will initially conflict two different ways of seeing life.

Peter Farrelly’s career

Peter Farrelly and his brother Bobby are the duo behind the writing, production and direction of nearly a dozen blockbusters, including There's Something About Mary, Shallow Hal, The Heartbreak Kid and the modern classic Dumb and Dumber.

Together, they have created a brand of comedy of their own: with some stories that defy the limits and others that often show the hidden comic talents of well-known dramatic actors such as Jeff Daniels, Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Peter, determined to leave his comfort zone, goes for more and Green Book is presented as his great opportunity.
