Movies based on true events to watch on the weekend

A review of several films based on real life

It happens in life, it happens in fiction. That's how it has been since the beginning of cinema until now. Reality has become a great inspiration for many Hollywood films. Through different movies, we learn and discover different events that happened in real life and reflect on them.

Let's take a brief look at some of the movies inspired by real events:

All the Money in the World: the film tells the story of the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III and his mother Gail's desperate attempt to convince his billionaire grandfather Jean Paul Getty to pay the ransom. With her son's life at risk, Gail and Getty's advisor will become allies in a race against time that will ultimately reveal the true and lasting value of love over money. The film features an outstanding cast including Charlie Plummer, Christopher Plummer (Remember, Elsa & Fred), Michelle Williams (After the Wedding), and Mark Wahlberg (Mile 22; Lone Survivor).

Adrift: starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin, the film follows Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp, who embarked on an adventure across the ocean and never thought they would encounter one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in history. In the wake of the storm, Tami will find Richard seriously injured and their ship in ruins. With no hope of rescue, the protagonist must find the strength and determination to reach land safely with the man she loves.

Devotion: the film tells the story of two young pilots from different worlds, one is Tom Hudner, an impeccable soldier. The other is Jesse Brown, a fiercely talented pilot, who would become the first African-American to fly in combat for the U.S. Navy. Both will be pushed to the limit to become the best fighter pilots and will form a strong friendship, which will be tested on the heated battlefield.
