Who is Ana de Armas?

The actress continues to grow in Hollywood

Ana de Armas was born in Havana, Cuba on April 30, 1988, and she showed interest in acting from a very young age. She began her career in Cuba when she was sixteen years old and she got her first leading role in a Hispanic-Cuban soap opera called Una rosa de Francia. Later, she moved to Madrid to continue her career and achieved great success thanks to two series that were broadcast on television: The Boarding School and Hispania, la leyenda.

How did Ana de Armas make it in Hollywood? After her talent was recognized in Spain, the actress decided to move to Los Angeles to face new challenges. She participated in several films such as Knock (2015), War Dogs (2016), and Hands of Stone (2016) which tells the story of how the legendary Roberto Duran and his mythical trainer Ray Arcel changed each other’s lives. Two-time Academy Award winner Robert De Niro (The War with Grandpa, Dirty Grandpa) stars as legendary trainer Ray Arcel, a Harlem Jew who became the first boxing trainer elected to the Boxing Hall of Fame and trained over two thousand boxers in his seventy-year career and none of them were severely injured. The film portrays his comeback - after being forced to retire by the Madison Square Garden Mafia- as he decides to train Duran for free, risking his life, and beginning a father-son journey that will change him forever.

She achieved international recognition with the science fiction film Blade Runner 2049. Since then, her career as an actress has continued to grow and she keeps joining new projects and reaching all corners of the world with her films.
