World Book Day

Today we recommend some movies inspired by novels!

This special date aims to promote reading, the publishing industry, and the protection of intellectual property. It is a symbolic day in world literature, as it also coincides with the death of three great authors: William Shakespeare, Garcilaso de la Vega, and Miguel de Cervantes. It is a way to commemorate the most important writers in history and to invite, every year, more people to immerse themselves in the incredible literary universe.

Let's take a look at some movies inspired by novels to celebrate the World Book Day:

A Monster Calls: the film tells the story of Connor, a twelve-year-old boy, who is dealing with his mother's illness and bullying, and so escapes into a fantasy world of monsters and fairies that explore courage, loss, and faith.

Lion: Inspired by true events, the film follows a five-year-old Indian boy who gets lost thousands of miles away from home. He survives many adversities until he is adopted by a couple in Australia. Twenty-five years later, he sets out to find his family of origin.

After: based on the One Direction fan fiction novel and worldwide phenomenon written by Anna Todd, the film tells the story of Tessa Young, who is in her first year at university. Accustomed to a stable and orderly life, her world changes when she meets Hardin Scott, a mysterious young man with a dark past. From the first moment, they hate each other because they belong to two different worlds and are complete opposites. However, these two opposites will soon come together and nothing will ever be the same again. Each of the books in this saga has had its big-screen adaptation: After We CollidedAfter We Fell, and After Ever Happy, which is soon to hit theaters in Latin America.

Which other films are inspired by novels? First of all, The Duff, written by Kody Keplinger. You can also enjoy different stories with transposition to the seventh art such as Beautiful CreaturesJuliet, Naked, or Still Alice, a film about early-onset Alzheimer's disease and how it tests the relationship of the protagonist with her family.
