SAG Awards: an incredible night for CODA!

CODA receives its well-deserved recognition

The Screen Actors Guild Awards took place on Sunday night, February 27th, to recognize the year's top performances. During this event, Eugenio DerbezTroy KotsurEmilia JonesMarlee Matlin, and Daniel Durant from CODA made history by receiving their award for Best Ensemble in a Motion Picture. This was a unique moment as it celebrated Mexican talent and gave greater visibility to deaf performers.

Another big surprise of the ceremony was that actor Troy Kotsur won an award in the Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture category. This changes the bets for the rest of the awards season because Kotsur now has a better chance of taking home an Oscar.

CODA was a huge hit at the Sundance Film Festival more than a year ago and, to this day, continues to stand out at several Hollywood events. As we can see, the story of Ruby (Emilia Jones), a hearing daughter in a deaf family, has moved audiences, critics, and the union's colleagues.
