The Rental

Do you think you know where you are staying?

Dave Franco made his directorial debut with this suspense horror film that keeps viewers on edge from start to finish. It is co-produced by Sean Durkin, director of the acclaimed film The Nest.

The film is about two couples who find a beautiful, faraway house by the sea and rent it through an internet application to enjoy the weekend. Upon arrival, they are greeted by the owner, a rather sinister character who will not make a good first impression. But after this, the four characters are ready to rest and have a good time. What they still do not know is that soon they will have to escape as very strange things will take place in this house far from civilization.

Franco himself said in an interview that the inspiration for writing this story came when one day he woke up in a hotel and the sheets were bloody. The discomfort he felt in that place that, by the way, he had rented through an online site, served as a trigger for the script.

Here is a minor spoiler that makes us reflects on the following: do you trust internet applications to rent houses? Do you feel safe? Do we accept the conditions of staying in a place where we know the owner of the house has the keys and can come and go whenever they want?

We can only give you some word of advice: the next time you rent a place and feel uncomfortable in any way, leave quickly without hesitation.
