One month from Chadwick Boseman's death

The actor who will always be in our hearts

On August 30, 2020, the film industry and all fans around the world received some shocking news: young American actor Chadwick Boseman had died at just 43 years old following a battle with colon cancer. A tireless fighter, he was diagnosed with this disease in 2016 and between treatments and medical visits, he continued filming multiple films so that no one suspected what he was going through.

In that time, he finally rose to world fame with his character King T`Challa in Black Panther in several films of the Marvel saga. He also shot alongside Sienna Miller the action-packed thriller 21 Bridges, where Boseman played a detective who aimed to catch suspected cop killers.

In an interview in 2018, the actor said that much of his learning in his acting career was thanks to Denzel Washington. Why? A few years ago, American actress, singer, and stage director Phylicia Rashad was taking acting classes at Oxford. At that time, there was a campaign for celebrities to donate for study abroad scholarships. “I didn't have the money to pay for this, so Rashad gathered his friends, and they paid for us to go (…) But on my return I received a letter from the beneficiary. And it said Denzel Washington paid for you," Boseman said in an interview with Jimmy Fallon.

Since then, he had always wanted to meet Washington until they finally met at a premiere in New York and he was able to thank him for that magnificent gesture. Denzel Washington said in an interview about the actor: “He was a gentle soul and a brilliant artist, who will remain with us for eternity through his iconic performances during his short yet illustrious career. God bless Chadwick Boseman”.

So be it.
