Katharine Gun's story

The true protagonist of Official Secrets

There are ordinary people who at one time do something exceptional, unusual and that have an impact on society they cannot even measure. This is the case of translator Katharine Gun, who decided to leak classified information on the British government's espionage about the UN, thus generating an impressive anti-war movement.

But who is it and how important was Katharine Gun? Until her 28 years, Gun's life went by smoothly. She worked for the UK intelligence agency, GCHQ.

Until one day an email changed everything. A message from the United States Security Agency (NSA) asked the English agency for their cooperation to spy on six UN member countries to get the approval of the 2003 war against Iraq.

After a moment of doubt, the young English woman decided to leak the content of the email, risking her own life.
