Ralph Fiennes: "the film says that governments cannot be reliable"

The actor provides details of his character in Official Secrets

The new film by Gavin Hood, Official Secrets, presents an interesting plot where a translator of the English secret services (Keira Knightley) faces an espionage operation that sought to generate the war against Iraq in 2003, but who decides to make public her information.

 Based on a true story, renowned actor Ralph Fiennes plays lawyer Ben Emmerson. “He likes to take cases that are as hard and important as a human rights conflict. I think he is now one of the most prestigious human rights lawyers in the world,” Emmerson says.

 He also had the opportunity to meet him. “It was very useful to meet him, he was very generous with his time, his memories of this case and other related things. Fiennes gives his point of view: “For me, what the movie says is that governments cannot be reliable, neither can secret services, and that these brave citizens take their own reins and do something big for what they believe is for a common good.”
