Jonah Hill: "They worked hard to become incredible actors"

The actor, first time director, is very proud of his cast of skaters

 Jonah Hill was certain that his first film as director would bring to the screen a story that would touch him, that would be meaningful to him and his environment. Mid90s, his first film, is based on these premises.

In dialogue with the press, the now director revealed how the whole process was: "from conception to launch, everything lasted four years. I started writing the movie in 2015. I grew up in the western skateboarding area of ​​Los Angeles. I had 100% dedication, but only 14% skill," Hill jokes.

It is from this world of skaters and skateboards that Hill builds a dramatic and emotional story of a 13-year-old teenager (Sunny Suljic) who opens up to the world through some friends that take him away from his daily problems.

Except for Suljic, who is an actor and a skater, the rest of the gang members became actors in the filming process. Hill recalls: "our producer Mikey Alfred knew many of these guys, I was very proud to know that I was going to have real skaters instead of actors. The best part was to see how they worked hard to become incredible actors," he concluded.
