Lizzie: who was the killer of the ax?

The real story behind the film starring Chlöe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart

Some say that Lizzie Borden’s ghost is still among us.

The seemingly fragile and strange woman from Fall River, Massachusetts, became a famous American criminal after the brutal murder of her father and stepmother on August 4, 1892.

All eyes pointed to Lizzie having killed her abusive progenitor and wicked stepmother with an ax. But, she was acquitted in trial and the Borden Case has suffered multiple interpretations since the guilty person was not found.

The ax killer and her lover

One of the versions is precisely the one director Craig William Macneill takes for his film Lizzie.

It indicates that the probable motive for the murders was the romantic relationship between Lizzie, played by Chlöe Sevigny, and her maid Bridget, starring Kristen Stewart. Something that could have definitely exploited the already deteriorated family bond and caused the crimes.

The proposal is irresistible: a great story in the hands of two artists with big personality of the industry that in the skin of two lovers conspire to commit a brutal murder.
