"To be honest, this is not just another war movie," says Nicolai Fuglsig, speaking for Total Film, the UK's specialized film critics.
Because 12 Strong apart from telling the first mission of the United States in response to the attack on the Twin Towers, is also a story of men willing to leave everything they have for the freedom and the dreams of a country.
The story, based on the book Horse Soldiers (2009) by Doug Stanton, develops the first covert operation in Afghanistan to confront the Taliban. "I could not believe it was true," admits Fuglsig, because the film shows "modern soldiers riding horses in battle against tanks T-72, rocket launchers BM-21 ... it was like a war of the last century," he says.
Chris Hemsworth leads the troop
The Australian actor is the one who puts himself in Captain Mitch Nelson’s shoes; in charge of carrying out a mission where honor will be tested. Michael Shannon and Michael Peña are together with Thor’s star.
"I always thought Chris would be perfect," says the Danish director, adding: "he has that calm, confidence and strength that is often found in great leaders," he concludes.
