Happy Birthday Anthony Hopkins!

The actor turns 85

Anthony Hopkins was born on December 31, 1937, in Wales. From a young age, Anthony was a lonely child with dyslexia, who discovered he could devote himself to some kind of art, such as painting, drawing, or playing piano. When he was fifteen he met Richard Burton, who convinced him to pursue acting.

How did he start in the acting world? He received his first leading roles in several well-known plays such as Coriolanus and Macbeth, but his Broadway debut was several years later in Equus. He also played Richard in The Lion in Winter (1968). International recognition finally came with the character Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs (1991), for which he won the Oscar for Best Actor.

One of his latest projects is The Son, starring Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern (The Founder), and Vanessa Kirby. The film tells the story of Peter, who has a life together with Emma and their baby. However, everything changes when his ex-wife Kate appears with their son, Nicholas, a young boy who is constantly getting into trouble. He is a teenager who is difficult to communicate with, aggressive, distant, and has just dropped out of school. The film brings a specific proposal: to carefully study the relationship between father and son.

The Son will hit the big screen in 2023 in Latin America.
