From child to Hollywood: Natalie Portman

A journey through the career of this amazing actress

Natalie Portman is an actress, director, and producer who was born on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem. In 1984, when Natalie was three years old, she moved with her family to the United States. She holds dual citizenship and has confessed that she loves the United States but considers Israel to be her true home. She learned Hebrew and English and attended a Jewish elementary school. In addition to acting, she also studied psychology at Harvard University.

What were her beginnings like? She made her film debut in Léon (1994), a film about an orphan who is saved by a professional hitman, when she was just a child. In the nineties, she participated in different films such as Beautiful Girls (1996) and Anywhere but Here (1999) until achieving international recognition with the Star Wars saga. She then stood out for being part of successful film projects such as CloserV for Vendetta, and The Other Boleyn Girl.

One of Natalie Portman's latest films, which earned her an Oscar, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination, was Jackie: after her husband's assassination, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy struggles with grief and trauma to regain her faith, comfort her children and define her husband's historic legacy.
