Alec Baldwin (Still Alice, To Rome with love) was under the spotlight these last days due to a tragic news that CNN en Español published on its official website: "On the set of the movie ‘Rust’ in New Mexico, the director of photography has died and the cinematographer was injured after actor Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm on Thursday. Director of photography Halyna Hutchins, 42, was transported to the hospital via helicopter and pronounced dead by medical personnel at University of New Mexico Hospital, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office. Director Joel Souza, 48, was transported to CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center by ambulance for care. Details on his condition were not released.”
"There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna," Baldwin wrote on his official Twitter account.
This is certainly shocking news that deeply affected the entire film industry. Although no charges have been filed against the actor, the investigation is still open and there will surely be more news about the case in the coming days.
