World Space Week!

It will be held from October 4 to 10

The annual World Space Week was proclaimed in 1999 by the United Nations (UN) to celebrate the contribution of space science and technology to humanity and to promote international cooperation in the funding of space programs. It also helps to disseminate information to the public about space and the different benefits it brings to our lives.

Every year a theme is chosen for the celebration of this date and this year’s theme is Women in Space, which aims to value the contribution of women in space-related careers and to serve as motivation for future generations.

The space and the universe used to be central themes in many Hollywood movies as they are subjects that raise intrigue and expectation - and why not - provoke controversy. In the same vein, the new film by Roland EmmerichMoonfall will bring us closer to the space world as we discover that the moon, the natural satellite that surrounds us, hides dark secrets. This time it is not a meteorite or any other natural phenomenon that puts planet Earth at risk, but the moon that is knocked out of orbit and may collide with our planet.

The film stars an excellent cast: Halle Berry (The Call), Patrick Wilson (Midway), John BradleyCharlie Plummer (All the Money in the World), Michael PeñaDonald Sutherland (The Hunger Games), among others. There is still no confirmed release date in Latin America, but it is expected to hit theaters in the first half of 2022.
