The Current war: Imminent premiere!

The real story of the competition between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse

There was a moment in history where darkness dominated everything. But at the end of the 1880s the problem was solved: humans had invented electric light. But the problem was to define the transmission system.

The Current War masterfully portrays this historical moment, under the direction of American Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.

The competition to establish the electric power distribution in the United States had two players: inventor Thomas Edison (Benedict Cumberbatch) and businessman George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon).

The current war. A war of egos, recognition and money

For Thomas Edison, the best way to distribute electric power was through the direct current system, while George Westinghouse stated that alternating current was the safest method.

Legal disputes and mutual accusations soon took place.

As no one doubted Edison was a genius, Westinghouse funded the ideas of another inventor who also gained great relevance: Nikola Tesla (Nicholas Hoult).
