Berlin International Film Festival is the most important event for independent cinema worldwide.
To participate and receive an award is key to position a film and a production that is about to be released in theaters around the world.
It is for this reason that the list of participating films generates a lot of expectation. And those responsible for the event, Paz Lázaro, section head, and Michael Stütz, co-curator and programme manager, have already revealed the 22 titles in the "Panorama Berlin" category, 14 of which will be world releases.
MID90s, a dramatic comedy, the return to an era
Among the list of selected films, the directorial debut of Jonah Hill with MID90s stands out. It is a direct shot at the melancholy of the 90s, but with a deep drama, where a 13-year-old teenager (Sunny Suljic) who has to deal with a not so present mother emerges (Katherine Waterston), a troublesome brother (Lucas Hedges) and a gang of skaters that will serve as a membership group.
The Berlin Festival will take place between February 7 and 17 in the German capital.
