The trailer of Ben is back allows the audience to admire from the beginning the great performances offered by those who will be the main protagonists of the film, in an acting duel that will surprise throughout the film.
In those first images, Lucas Hedges, in the role of an addicted teenager, surprises his mother, played by Julia Roberts, and then they fell into each other’s arms in a reunion embrace.
However, not everyone is happy. Family members are immediately suspicious of the unexpected visit of the eldest son who should actually be in a rehabilitation center.
Family crisis
The domestic balance, weak in itself, ends up breaking when the underlying conflicts, linked to drugs, begin to emerge. The challenges that mother and son will face to emerge unharmed from a crisis whose rise can end in tragedy will be the platform for this pair of actors to shine on screen with performances that will move even the toughest spectator.
"If you really knew me you would be fed up with me," Ben tells his mother in this trailer of the film directed by Peter Hedges, and he adds: "the things that I have done to others," suggesting something of the dark and painful world of addictions.
