Jack Black: "Before reading the script, I knew I was going to do it”

Details about his work in Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot.

When director Gus Van Sant wrote a drunken and charlatan character he immediately thought of Jack Black to play it. The actor was flattered with the call, but he cannot help but joke about it.

"Well, the script describes him as a boaster," he says. "So I felt very flattered that Gus Van Sant has offered me a role in his film because he is one of my favorite filmmakers. But I was also slightly offended by the fact that he thought: "Who makes the perfect role to play such nonsense? Who is perfect to be a complete boaster? Oh, I know! It has to be Jack Black! ", the actor said cheerfully.

Black says that as soon as he heard about the project, he was ready to be enlisted; the protagonist and the director were two elements that completely seduced him: "There was Gus Van Sant and Joaquin Phoenix! With those names, even before reading the script, I knew I was going to do it,” he said.
