Midnight Sun: an unforgettable summer

What happens when the sun goes down

The film Midnight Sun is far from being a mere romantic metaphor. Literally, for Katie (Bella Thorne) and Charlie (Patrick Schwarzenegger) love starts at midnight.

Something you can see in the images of the new trailer: love takes place with no plans to have a snack or to have an ice cream in the afternoon. Certainly, these lovers hide from the sun.

Love on summer nights

The film tells Katie’s life, a lively girl and eager for adventures who must live all day at her home due to a rare congenital disease that prevents her from exposing herself to sunlight.

To fight loneliness, she goes out at night to play her guitar and sing. Everything changes when, in one of those walks, she runs into Charlie, the neighbor she used to spy from her window. And love soon arrives between hectic nocturnal excursions.

But what happens when Charlie finds out about Katie's illness? The end is open, although love always wins, say those who know.

Behind the scenes

Based on the Japanese film Taiyō no Uta (translated as "Song of the Sun"), the screenplay was adapted by Eric Kirsten and directed by American director Scott Speer.
