Uma Thurman was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 29, 1970. The actress nominated for an Oscar for Pulp Fiction and Golden Globe winner for best actress for her role in Hysterical Blindness, began her professional career as a model, then changed to the cinema world in 1988. Another outstanding role in her career, for which she also received Golden Globe nominations, was in Kill Bill Vol 1 and Vol 2, both directed by the iconic Tarantino (The Hateful Eight). Also, we have recently saw her in a more relaxed role in the comedy The War with Grandpa alongside Robert de Niro

Here are 10 things you probably didn't know about this brilliant woman:

- Since her first collaboration with Tarantino in Pulp Fiction, she has become his muse alongside film divas like Marlene Dietrich or Greta Garbo.

- She started out as a model at the age of 15 and appeared on the cover of magazines such as Glamour and Vogue. Her talent and her 1.83cm height allowed her to easily enter the modeling world.

- Her height and the size of her feet opened many doors for her in the professional world, but she was also teased at school.

- Her full name is Uma Karuna Thurman. While Karuna means kindness and passion, Uma is the name of a Hindu goddess of light and beauty, and it also means kiss in the Polynesian language.

- Her father was the first Westerner to become a Tibetan monk, which is why Uma met the Dalai Lama when she was young.

- She suffers from claustrophobia – do you remember the scene in Kill Bill where she was buried alive? It was one of the worst filming experiences for the actress!

- Her only daughter has 6 names: Rosalind, Arusha, Arkadina, Altalune, Florence, Thurman-Busson. 

- Filming Kill Bill not only marked her career, but also demonstrated her professionalism. She shot for six hours straight the scene where she is dressed as a bride and enters the House of Blue Leaves.

- She had a car accident in Kill Bill Vol 2, but fortunately, she was only slightly hurt.

- She is involved in several social causes such as: regulating the use of guns in the United States, fighting poverty, raising awareness of LGBTQ+ human rights, equal rights for women, among others.
