Uma Thurman was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 29, 1970. The actress nominated for an Oscar for Pulp Fiction and Golden Globe winner for best actress for her role in Hysterical Blindness, began her professional career as a model, then changed to the cinema world in 1988. Another outstanding role in her career, for which she also received Golden Globe nominations, was in Kill Bill Vol 1 and Vol 2, both directed by the iconic Tarantino (The Hateful Eight). Also, we have recently saw her in a more relaxed role in the comedy The War with Grandpa alongside Robert de Niro.

- Her height and the size of her feet opened many doors for her in the professional world, but she was also teased at school.
- Her full name is Uma Karuna Thurman. While Karuna means kindness and passion, Uma is the name of a Hindu goddess of light and beauty, and it also means kiss in the Polynesian language.
- Her father was the first Westerner to become a Tibetan monk, which is why Uma met the Dalai Lama when she was young.
- She suffers from claustrophobia – do you remember the scene in Kill Bill where she was buried alive? It was one of the worst filming experiences for the actress!
