Celebrities hand their social media channels over to experts for a solidarity campaign

The important thing is to be more united than ever

Many initiatives have emerged to keep us more connected and informed during this global pandemic. And Hollywood isn’t the exception. One, and NGOco-founded by Bono, is campaigning to end extreme poverty and preventable diseases. In that sense, they have launched the #PasstheMic campaign where actors and actresses hand their Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter accounts to health and economics experts.

Stars like Julia Roberts (Ben is Back, Larry Crowne), Shailene Woodley (Adrift) and David Oyelowo (Gringo) participated in different talks with important people to give accurate information in times of uncertainty and media confusion.

Beating the virus means listening to the experts and following science, data and facts. This is the only way we can be faster than the virus.”, said Gayle Smith, president and CEO of the ONE Campaign. She added: “We need cooperation and a global response to defeat this pandemic - particularly to protect those communities and countries which are in a worse position to cope with it because nobody will be safe until we are all safe.”
