Les misérables: the fuse that ignites outrage

Recently nominated for the Golden Globes, it is positioned as the French film of the year

Nominated for best motion picture - foreign language at the Golden Globes, the release of the French thriller Les Misérables generates great expectation.

One of the French films of the year, the story written and directed by Ladj Ly represents a clear tribute to Victor Hugo's story, which remains in full force as long as there is injustice and inequality.

Structured as a police thriller, the film portrays the experience of three policemen who patrol the streets of a poor neighborhood but culturally full of life in the most marginal areas of the Montfermeil community in Paris.

An exciting plot

As an inexperienced cop, Stéphane (played by Damien Bonnard) has just joined the crime fighting brigade in this suburb east of Paris.

There he meets his new colleagues, Chris (Djebril Zonga) and Gwada (Alexis Manenti), two unscrupulous policemen who carry out a series of corrupt practices in their work.

Things get complicated when an arrest that becomes very violent ignites the wick of outrage against the abuse of power in a context where Muslims, immigrants from North Africa, gypsy travelers and local gangs often live in conflict.

A must- see film!
