Alfonso Gómez-Rejón leads a unique story

The director will direct The Current War

The career of Alfonso Gómez-Rejón is slowly consolidating and it is starting to grow. The director, actor, American producer- with Mexican parents- began behind the cameras until he became a secondary director of several films.

He assisted great directors like Martin Scorsese, Nora Ephron and Ben Affleck, but he also directed several episodes of Glee and American Horror Story.

With two films in his filmography: The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014) and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015), Gómez-Rejón now ventures into a real and period story with The Current War.

The current war. A dispute over power supply.

The film recreates the dispute between Thomas Edison (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) and George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) to establish the electrical system that would be used by the United States and the rest of the world.

However, Edison and Westinghouse are not the only players. Another inventor of the time, Nikola Tesla- who at the end of the trailer says "I fix problems for idiots" - will also play the game.
