Pop music is the soul of Teen Spirit, actor Max Minghella’s debut as director.
A film about chasing the dreams that slowly grow in Violet Valenski, played by Elle Fanning, a 17-year-old teenager who dreams of leaving the island where she lives and becoming a famous singer.
A creative process
The film with several covers by Robyn, Ariana Grande, Grimes, Tegan & Sara and Little Bird by Annie Lennox is an intimate and at the same time energetic portrait of a young woman who fights with her own demons to achieve her greatest desires.
Undoubtedly, the performances of Fanning and Zlatko Burić, her mentor in the film, make the experience worthwhile.
With the excitement of having fulfilled his own dream in making this film, Minghella spoke about the creative and collaborative process that took place at the set. "I am very happy to have made this movie. With the election of Elle I wanted to infuse part of her personality and her own personal history into the story. It is a collaborative effort. I think Violet changed and evolved," he said.
