Mimi Leder: "I have to tell this story"

The director’s admiration for the career of Ruth Bader Ginsburg

The career within the American justice of lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg is incredible. A whole life linked to the fight for equal rights that led her to become a justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Director Mimi Leder confesses that when reading the script written by Daniel Stiepleman- who is also the nephew of Justice Ginsburg in real life- her reaction was visceral and she thought: "I have to make this movie," she recalls. "I have to tell this story. I immediately identified with Justice Ginsburg whose character I had to create."

Leder was "forced" to tell the story of this strong woman who, against all odds, was able to fulfil her dreams and promote a great advance in humanity in her struggle for equality and the movement for women's rights.

The director felt a certain connection with Ginsburg. "I wanted to tell her story because I have also been a victim of adversity and discrimination, since I have fought hard for jobs that less able men have achieved," she says.

Felicity Jones will play a young lawyer who will change a whole era with determination and hard work.

A must-see movie!
