Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot- The portray of famous cartoonist John Callahan

Joaquin Phoenix's performance beyond praises

Affected by the vices modern life offers, a very young John Callahan was going to a party with a friend. Both drunk, the car crashed and Callahan was paralyzed for life. To avoid feeling sorry for himself, he began to draw and his cartoons, politically incorrect, made him famous.

Director Gus Van Sant immerses himself in this real story and takes it to theaters in the film Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot. The result is a moving, insightful and entertaining adaptation of Callahan's autobiography, who died in 2010.

The family’s verdict

Callahan's younger brother is called Tom and he visited the set during filming. There it was evidenced that actor Joaquin Phoenix’s meticulous preparation to play the famous cartoonist was worth it. "It was as if I had seen my brother again," Tom said. "My son, my wife and I looked at each other and we were like, wow, he's doing everything like John.”

"I also liked that the story is not only about his disability, but about his life before and after. I think John really would have been happy with this movie,” he finished.
